Vacancy: Senior Estimator

As the Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for supporting projects within Johnson Matthey's Catalyst Technologies licensing portfolio and will be assigned priority projects to lead & support the estimating function. The Estimator will be responsible for planning, set up and development of costs and scheduling estimating activities for Studies and BEP Projects preparing capital cost estimates, predominantly Class 5 and Class 4 level, (EPC £1m - £1bn) as well as preparing proposal cost estimates and supporting activities for reviewing estimates produced by 3rd Parties.

Your responsibilities:- Understand the projects and their requirements in order to provide a basis for developing estimates and support those projects in the achievement of their targets.
- Determine key variables for costs and other estimates and gather 1st hand information from projects and other sources to provide estimating benchmark data for future use by Johnson Matthey.
- Conduct research and obtain data on labour costs, materials, production times etc. leading to the creation (and maintenance) of a clear accessible JM database capturing best practice and historical estimates.
- Prepare, compile and co-ordinate the development of the estimate, ensuring all required estimating documentation is completed and issued in line with the project/ bid schedule.
- Utilise and understand all methodology's of estimating from "Capacity/Equipment Factored, unit Factoring, Parametric Modelling, unit costs/ratios, Judgment or Analogical "to" Detailed unit costs.
- Use appropriate software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Aspen CCE, @Risk or similar) for data analysis and budgeting.
- Review offers and quotes by sub-contractors or vendors to understand accuracy of cost estimates.
- Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (including project managers, workstream leads and general project personnel).
- Review, challenge and validate estimates developed by others to establish realism, accuracy and identify improvement opportunities.
- Establish good working relationships with staff, engineering discipline leads, department and project managers and clients when required. Keeping relevant stakeholders fully informed of progress and ensure their buy-in to the estimate plan and methodology.
Requirements for the role:- Engineering degree
- Considerable previous experience in Estimation
- Extensive knowledge and ability to use all MS Office package, especially Excel and Word, Aspen CCE and/or similar.
- Experience in estimating and leading capital cost estimates in an EPC/EPCM setting
- Knowledge of working internationally & understanding of execution methodologies and their impact on EPC estimates.
- Experience in probabilistic modelling of project cost/ schedules incorporating uncertainty & risk.
- Knowledge of the AACEI estimate classifications and guidelines.
